Hana is a Palestinian-American filmmaker who works to amplify stories of underrepresented communities as they envision alternative realities. For the past decade, she has honed her filmmaking skills as an editor and associate producer most notably on Union. As a journalist she has published in outlets like The Nation, +972 Magazine, and 7iber, exploring the intersection of environmental justice and colonial violence. As a former 2024 video fellow with Democracy Now! She produced segments highlighting grassroots politics and student movements. Hana’s debut film, “The Rooftops of Jerusalem”, is a coming-of-age story following Palestinian parkour athletes in Jerusalem’s Old City. “Holding Fire” documents a grassroots movement of Muslim immigrant women fighting for their rights within New York City’s political landscape.
Her latest short documentary, “Where the Wind Blows”, winner of the 2022 IF/Then x The Redford Center Nature Access Pitch, was selected for DOC NYC and voted the Best Short Documentary at the 2024 Arab Film and Media Festival. Currently, Hana is expanding “Where the Wind Blows” into a feature-length film, “If These Stones Could Talk”. This project has earned her a Firelight Media Documentary Lab Fellowship (2024-25), a BRIC Film and TV Lab residency, and the Best Pitch Award at the Thessaloniki Film Festival.
Hana’s work as a director and editor includes the documentary shorts Where the Wind Blows (2024), Holding Fire (2019), and The Rooftops of Jerusalem (2014). Hana is currently a fellow at the 2026 UFO short film lab.
